The Deck @ 622 Blackburn

So when I moved back to the Central California Coast three years ago, right at the top of my to-do list was to re-build my mom's back deck.  One thing led to another and I ended up on my back for a few years and the project got put on the way way back burner.  Well, last winter my brother Cole and I started scheming and planning a way to finally make it happen.  He flew out on March 19th and got down to business with me framing the thing out, and one month to the day after he left I put most of the finishing touches on it.  It was a complicated design/build project, being so close to grade and having multiple elevation changes, needing to have a shade structure built into the design, and trying to save as much of the existing framing as possible, but it turned out pretty nice.  It's completion signifies to me the ability of the human body to heal, as long as the spirit remains strong.
